How To Become a Winner

I started betting on horses when I was around 20. It was just a bit of fun to go down the bookies with a mate after work. But gradually over the years I started to take it more seriously when I realised that if you put in some effort you could actually be a winner.

By effort I mean analysing the trainers, the horses recent form, weather conditions the odds etc etc.

For the past few years I had gotten pretty good at it and rarely had a losing month but it wasn’t until me and my 2 friends started our group that the winnings really started to add up to a point where I could quit my job.

The Race Busters group is made up of 3 people. One of them is me and one of them is an ex jocky and he has good connections in the horse racing world. He sees horse racing from a different perspective as he actually used to race horses.

I met him in a pub and we became friends. Seeing as he didn’t have a job anymore we would share tips and information and help each other out.

The third member of our group is a retired engineer called Dennis. He is a horse racing enthusiast and is a fantastic mathematician. He is excellent at picking winners that have good odds. He wont bet on a horse if the odds aren’t good enough.

Around 18 months ago we got together and decided to form our group. We would pool all of our information. The jocky would bring inside info to the table. I would spend hours analysing races and the engineer would also be analysing the races and the odds. So we would only make a bet when we had all decided which horse to bet on.

And the rest as they say is history.

Since we have been working together we have made over 1,000 picks with average odds of about 7.00 and we win around 27% of the time. So we win around 1 out of 4 races but we are getting odds of around 7.00 each time so we only need to win 1 out of 7 to break even but we’re winning 1 out of 4!

Our roi is around 25% and that has stayed consistent over 1,000 picks.

We have won 16/18 months and the losing months were quite small but we’ve had some huge winning months.

It’s impossible to win every bet you make when it comes to betting on horses or any other sport for that matter however if you put in the time and effort to study each horses form, weather conditions and a bunch of other stuff you can get a pretty good idea on which horse is going to do well.

Well to be completely honest we don’t really need to and there was debate in the group whether we should however there are 2 reasons why we share our picks.

• To help people – when I started making good money without a job friends and family started asking questions. If I didn’t fully trust our groups ability to win then I would never share my tips with family and friends because I wouldn’t want them to lose money based on what I told them to bet on. I would feel guilty. But I do trust our groups ability to win so I have no problem sharing our picks to help others make some money.
